NASA AGU Ignite Talk
I participated in the IGNITE@AGU event sponsored by the Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) and NASA's Earth Science Division in the Adler planetarium during the American Geophysical Union Conference in December 2022. This event is a storytelling event that takes on the Ignite format which is a 5-minute-long presentation with 20 slides and the slides advancing automatically every 15 seconds. The prompt was to showcase any professional and personal interests through this fast-paced format. I was honored to be able to speak amongst NASA professionals, science professors, scientific professionals and graduate students.
For my talk, I connected two dissimilar topics: automating woodchip bioreactors (my research) and increasing diversity in STEM. I presented about the connection between my research automating a carbon dosing system for woodchip bioreactors to increasing diversity through supporting young minorities in stress periods and times of transition.
